Patna, Jan 19 (NationPress) The investigation into the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna took a dramatic turn on Monday as the Congress organized a protest against the Bihar government. Congress leaders and supporters assembled at Income Tax Chowk in the capital, voicing their dissent against the administration led by Nitish Kumar.
The protest was spearheaded by Krishna Allavaru, the Bihar Congress in-charge, along with State Congress President Rajesh Ram.
During the demonstration, Congress members also set fire to an effigy representing the Chief Minister.
Allavaru, addressing the crowd, criticized the state government for its inability to guarantee women’s safety. “The Bihar government has utterly failed to safeguard the daughters of this state. Such incidents are a consequence of this failure. We call for a thorough and unbiased investigation along with severe action against those responsible,” he stated.
In a pointed statement, Rajesh Ram condemned the government for allegedly attempting to obscure the details of the case.
“The victim has yet to receive justice, which is why we find ourselves in the streets today. The government and its administration appear to be protecting the wrongdoers,” he claimed.
Ram further asserted that the delay in taking action was linked to the victim’s socio-economic status. “Had this student come from a privileged background, immediate action would have been taken. Because she belonged to a less fortunate family, the case is being intentionally postponed,” he remarked, demanding that all individuals implicated be apprehended within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the issue has also captured the attention of human rights bodies.
Muzaffarpur attorney S.K. Jha has submitted petitions to both the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Bihar State Human Rights Commission, urging an investigation conducted under the watch of a retired judge.
He has communicated separately with CJI Surya Kant and Chief Justice of the Patna High Court Sangam Kumar Sahoo, requesting their attention to the matter.
On the other hand, Bihar Home Minister Samrat Choudhary affirmed that no offender should evade justice and that they must be incarcerated without exception.
He stated, “The police have full authority to act, and the government supports them. We have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is actively working on the case. The Patna IG is overseeing it, and the DGP is monitoring all developments. Comprehensive actions are being undertaken, and the ADG even reviewed the case yesterday.”
