Patna, Dec 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is under significant scrutiny following an event where he removed the hijab of a female doctor during a public gathering.
In the midst of this uproar, Jama Khan, a cabinet minister in the Bihar government, has staunchly defended the Chief Minister, claiming that there was no ill intent behind the gesture.
Addressing the press, Jama Khan remarked, “Everyone is aware of Nitish Kumar. He serves every segment of society. The female doctor is akin to his daughter. Nitish Kumar acted as a father figure, showing his pride in the success of a daughter from the minority community under his administration.”
Khan further accused the opposition of unjustly politicizing the situation.
“Certain individuals in the opposition are making unfounded accusations against Nitish Kumar without justification,” he stated.
In response to claims of a threat allegedly made by a Pakistani gangster regarding the Chief Minister related to this incident, Jama Khan categorically dismissed it.
“This is India. People might issue threats, but they hold no significance. We are Indians, and we fear no one,” he declared.
The controversy ignited on December 15, when Nitish Kumar presented appointment letters to 1,283 AYUSH doctors at the Samvad Hall within the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Health Minister Mangal Pandey were also present during the event.
Following the incident, the Chief Minister has been criticized by various individuals, including film actress Rakhi Sawant.
Moreover, a woman has reportedly filed an FIR against Nitish Kumar at a police station in Lucknow.
In the face of this backlash, the involved female doctor, Dr. Nusrat Parveen, has temporarily departed from Bihar.
She has traveled to Kolkata to reside with her family, as per media reports.
Sources indicate she left the state a day after the event.
Dr. Nusrat Parveen, who had long aspired to become a doctor, is set to commence her government service on December 20.
However, the developments ensuing the controversy have raised alarms regarding her safety and well-being.
