Is the Hijab Row Escalating? Tej Pratap Yadav Calls Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Actions Inappropriate
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Dec 22 (NationPress) The hijab controversy in Bihar is escalating, with the opposition continuing its criticism of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and demanding an apology for the female doctor involved.
The uproar began when the Chief Minister was accused of removing the hijab of a Muslim woman doctor during a ceremony in Patna where appointment letters for AYUSH doctors were distributed.
In the midst of this political uproar, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the National President of the Janshakti Janata Dal, commented on the situation, stating that such behavior should not have taken place.
Addressing the incident, Tej Pratap Yadav remarked that the Chief Minister's conduct was inappropriate.
“The actions of the Chief Minister, whether right or wrong, are his concern. However, the manner in which the hijab was removed was unacceptable. Such actions should not occur,” Yadav expressed.
On the other hand, Rajya Sabha MP and Rashtriya Lok Morcha National President Upendra Kushwaha defended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, arguing that the incident is being blown out of proportion.
Kushwaha pointed out that given the Chief Minister's age and experience, along with the fact that the involved woman was a student, it is inappropriate to assume any ill intent.
“This should be viewed as a fatherly gesture rather than through a political or malicious lens,” Kushwaha stated, urging society and political factions to show restraint and sensitivity regarding such issues.
In response to remarks by former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi about managing votes, Kushwaha asserted that such comments should be avoided in a democratic framework.
He indicated that such statements could undermine political decorum and public trust. While he acknowledged that the remarks might have been aimed at rallying party workers, he emphasized the importance of maintaining public responsibility.
During his brief visit to Katihar, Kushwaha engaged with journalists, sharing insights on various current political matters.
He noted that following the Bihar Assembly elections, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha has experienced a resurgence of enthusiasm, prompting the party to extend its organizational reach beyond Bihar.
Kushwaha stressed the necessity for a responsible alternative national political voice, asserting that his party is dedicated to fulfilling this role with resolve.
