New Security and Development Camp Launched in Bijapur to Combat Naxalism
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Raipur/Bijapur, March 14 (NationPress) In a major move aimed at dismantling Naxalism and fostering growth in one of Chhattisgarh's most isolated and Maoist-impacted areas, security personnel have set up a new security and public service camp in Village Bade Gundem, under the authority of Farsegarh Police Station in Bijapur district.
This camp's establishment is part of the Chhattisgarh Government's renowned 'Niyad Nella Nar' initiative, which combines enhanced anti-Naxal operations with the provision of essential public services to remote tribal regions.
The camp is intended to act as a strategic base to hinder Maoist activities, limit their movement, and cultivate a secure atmosphere conducive to long-term peace.
Created through a collaborative effort involving joint operations from the District Reserve Guard, local police, and the Chhattisgarh Armed Force, this camp stands as a testament to the dedication and resilience of the forces.
Despite facing difficult geographical challenges, impassable routes, and severe weather conditions, the establishment of this camp highlights the forces' exceptional courage, commitment, and high spirits.
In addition to security, these camps are set to offer transformative advantages for local residents. They will facilitate access to vital amenities such as healthcare services, quality education, electricity, clean drinking water, public distribution system outlets, enhanced mobile network coverage, roads, bridges, and culverts.
This initiative represents a significant leap in connecting Bhopalpatnam with Farsegarh and integrating remote villages, especially those situated in the Indravati National Park region, into wider road networks and administrative frameworks.
Since 2024, Bijapur district has witnessed the successful launch of 37 new security camps despite analogous challenges.
These initiatives have made considerable strides in combating Naxalism.
As per senior police officials, 955 Maoists have been rehabilitated and assimilated back into normal society, 234 have been neutralized during encounters, and 1,184 have been apprehended through ongoing operations.
The inauguration of this camp was attended by high-ranking officials, including Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range), Jagdalpur, along with a team of senior police personnel.
By merging effective security measures with inclusive development, this initiative aligns with the national target of eradicating Left-Wing Extremism by March 2026, paving the way for tribal communities to embrace progress, trust in governance, and a future devoid of violence.
