Los Angeles, Nov 17 (NationPress) Actor Billy Bob Thornton experienced an injury during the filming of a chaotic family dinner scene in ‘Landman’ season two episode ‘Death and a Sunset’.
The 70-year-old actor sustained injuries from “some pieces of shrapnel” while shooting a moment in the Paramount+ drama series where his character, oil company landman Tommy Norris, attempts to evade pasta-laden plates being thrown at him by his ex-wife Angela Norris (played by Ali Larter), as reported by Female First UK.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated, “When (Angela) goes off, like she did in that scene, she really goes off, and it’s not enjoyable having plates hurled at your head. They were either genuine or incredibly close to real, because they were quite heavy. They felt like plates to me! And I got a few pieces of shrapnel.”
Thornton mentioned he was injured “a little bit” but not severely, adding, “Just minor nicks here and there.”
According to Female First UK, the scene depicts Angela exploding in anger over Tommy's comments regarding her menstrual cycle affecting her mood at the dinner table, questioning her capacity for rational thought during that time.
This provoked her to grab the tablecloth and pull Tommy's plate of truffle-dusted cacio e pepe towards her. As Angela began throwing plates against the wall and yelling at her ex-husband over his remarks, the dinner guests hurriedly vacated the soon-to-be devastated dining area. The chaos unfolded in front of their children, Cooper (played by Jacob Lofland) and Ainsley (played by Michelle Randolph), along with his oil company associates Nathan (played by Colm Feore) and Dale (played by James Jordan).
Tommy managed to diffuse the tension by complimenting Angela about her appearance. The former couple then found themselves sitting on the floor beside each other in the wrecked dining room. ‘Landman’ is just one of the many acting roles associated with Billy Bob, who still distances himself from the Hollywood lifestyle.
