BJP's Vijayadharani Supports Jothimani's Claims of Congress Seat Sales

Marthandam (Tamil Nadu), March 29 (NationPress) In the wake of Congress MP S. Jothimani's public denunciation of the party's candidate selection and seat-sharing strategy within the DMK-led coalition, BJP leader S. Vijayadharani has come forward to echo her sentiments, alleging that the Congress is engaged in the "sale of seats".
In response to Jothimani's allegations, Vijayadharani emphasized in an interview with IANS that the Congress MP has made it clear that seats are being traded within the party, remarking: "This is not a new revelation. I am well aware of it."
Having transitioned from Congress to BJP in 2024, Vijayadharani asserted that such occurrences have been reported in the party before.
“These practices have been ongoing in Congress for quite some time, and everyone is aware of it. Jothimani has voiced her concerns by speaking the truth. This indicates that there is indeed a sale of seats, and candidates are being chosen in an undemocratic manner,” she stated.
She urged voters to resist such actions, saying: “I implore the citizens of this country to oppose the sale of seats. Voters should not support such a party and should certainly reject such candidates.”
Vijayadharani also mentioned her willingness to run in the elections if the party requests her to do so.
Jothimani had expressed her dismay regarding what she perceives as the disregard for loyal party members who have tirelessly worked for the Congress's development in the state over the years. “It’s disheartening to witness the efforts of dedicated Congress workers being undermined and effectively ‘sold off’ by individuals who have not contributed even minimally to the party’s strength,” she lamented.
In a social media post, she cautioned that if the so-called “mercenary or sales-driven approach” to seat allocation persists, it could jeopardize the party's future in Tamil Nadu. “If this trend continues, no one can save the Congress party in the state,” she warned.
For the upcoming April 23 Assembly elections, the Congress has been allocated 28 seats in the 234-member Assembly; however, the Karur MP contended that the process of selecting these constituencies was executed in a “highly secretive manner,” neglecting the input of party members and grassroots workers.
