Guwahati, March 9 (NationPress): Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that discussions regarding seat allocation between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition partner, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), for the forthcoming elections have been concluded. The proposal has been dispatched to the party's central leadership for their endorsement.

In a briefing with the press, Sarma confirmed that the finalized seat distribution agreement has been established at the state level and has been communicated to the BJP’s national leadership.

“We have successfully finalized the seat-sharing discussions with Asom Gana Parishad. All pertinent details have been forwarded to Delhi for validation,” stated the Chief Minister.

He also revealed that Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia is scheduled to visit the national capital soon to confer with the party's central leadership about the final arrangements.

Sarma indicated that dialogues concerning seat allocation in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have also been wrapped up. He mentioned that the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) will compete for 11 seats in the region, while the BJP will contest in four constituencies.

“In Bodoland, the BPF will be contesting in 11 seats, while the BJP will focus on four,” Sarma clarified.

The Chief Minister further noted that the BJP is nearing the completion of its candidate selection process and that the list of candidates will be unveiled soon. He expressed contentment with the public response to the BJP’s ongoing ‘Jana Ashirwad Yatra’, highlighting the strong turnout.

“The enthusiasm shown during the Jana Ashirwad Yatra has been remarkable. The public's reaction has been exceptionally positive,” he remarked.
