Did BJP Just Call LoP ‘Lashkar-e-Rahul’ After Youth Congress Protest?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) In the wake of the shirtless demonstration by Youth Congress activists during the India AI Impact Summit, BJP National Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on Saturday branded the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha as 'Lashkar-e-Rahul', emphasizing that this incident will be ingrained in the nation's memory.
Addressing the media, Trivedi stated, “At the AI Summit, we witnessed a splendid showcase of India's capabilities and intellect. Conversely, the disgraceful behavior exhibited by the Congress party is a reflection of their pettiness and indecency. What transpired is not politics; it cannot be simply categorized as negative politics.”
He further declared, “This amounts to treachery against the nation. In a time when the populace is agitated and furious, such actions are intolerable. Never before have we seen such lowly protests at any international summit—even during Congress-led administrations. I firmly believe that the citizens of this country will never overlook such a disgraceful display.”
Trivedi emphasized that while the nation is hosting a significant AI Summit and demonstrating its technological advancements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, such protests only serve to damage India's reputation globally.
“Previously, Rahul Gandhi made questionable comments abroad. Now, the so-called troops of 'Lashkar-e-Rahul' are attempting to tarnish the nation’s image in front of global leaders,” he remarked.
He concluded by asserting that the Congress party has continually transgressed the limits of political propriety, obscuring the distinction between democratic dissent and reckless behavior.
Meanwhile, BJP members protested outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi on Saturday, denouncing the Youth Congress demonstration during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam.
This protest followed an announcement on Friday by Virendra Sachdeva, who stated that he would lead a march from the Man Singh Road roundabout to the Congress office at 24 Akbar Road to condemn what he described as hooliganism by Youth Congress activists at the summit venue.
