BJP Criticizes Gehlot Government for Neglecting Rajasthan's Progress

Jaipur, April 9 (NationPress) During a pivotal press briefing at the Bharatiya Janata Party State Headquarters on Thursday, Haryana In-charge Satish Poonia, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, and Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham provided an in-depth report on the development initiatives implemented by the administration headed by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma over the last two years.
Their presentation included significant updates on major infrastructure projects.
Satish Poonia announced that the Union Cabinet has sanctioned two substantial projects for Rajasthan.
The first is the Pachpadra Refinery, which has a revised budget of Rs 79,459 crore and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21. He emphasized that this initiative is anticipated to enhance economic growth in Western Rajasthan and create numerous job opportunities.
He also condemned past delays, attributing them to previous administrations, asserting that the current government has realized considerable cost efficiencies.
On the subject of Jaipur Metro Phase-2, he pointed out that this project extends 41 kilometers, significantly larger than Phase-1, connecting Sitapura and Vishwakarma Industrial Area. Estimated at Rs 13,037 crore, this project will receive equal financial backing from the Central Government.
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa highlighted advancements in the Rs 95,000 crore Ramjal Setu Link Project, noting that progress is being made swiftly.
He mentioned that associated infrastructure, including the Navnera Barrage and Isharda Dam, is complete, while projects worth Rs 9,416.70 crore related to the Ramgarh Barrage and its systems are ongoing. These efforts are projected to aid 17 districts, irrigate around 400,000 hectares, and impact almost 30 million residents.
Furthermore, he reported that under the Yamuna Water Agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding valued at Rs 35,000 crore has been executed, with Detailed Project Report work advancing consistently. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 1.5 million rural households have been provided with tap water connections in the last two years, amounting to an expenditure of Rs 11,440 crore.
In terms of energy advancements, he revealed that Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 193,000 crore have been signed to produce 42,438 MW of power, positioning Rajasthan as a frontrunner in solar energy, particularly under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Additionally, there has been considerable progress in infrastructure and welfare programs. Under the PM Awas Yojana (Rural), 214,000 homes have been completed. In line with the Swachh Bharat Mission, 291,000 individual toilets and 5,027 community toilets have been established.
Through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rs 12,410 crore has been disbursed to 7.6 million farmers.
Minister of State Jawahar Singh Bedham remarked, “The Rajasthan CM is bringing new projects from Delhi, while Gehlot merely goes for a 'self-recharge.'”
He concluded by stating that Rajasthan has witnessed remarkable advancements across various sectors in the past two years.
He asserted that the “double-engine” governance model has expedited development and that the current administration is dedicated to enhancing public welfare and infrastructure.
