Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) A fierce exchange of words unfolded in Parliament on Thursday, as members of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition engaged in heated discussions regarding protests and the critical issue of energy security highlighted by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal directed a jab at the Congress leader, questioning his commitment to the workings of Parliament.
"By sipping tea here, he (Rahul Gandhi) has demonstrated his level of seriousness towards Parliamentary matters," Goyal remarked, in reference to the ongoing political tensions surrounding energy issues.
BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey also took aim at the Congress leader, showcasing a photo of Rahul Gandhi enjoying tea within the Parliament premises.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) seems to be having a picnic. This is Parliament, not a snack bar," Dubey asserted.
He further noted that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had issued strict orders prohibiting the use of Makar Dwar for protests, yet demonstrations continued to occur there.
BJP MP Ravi Kishan brushed off the Opposition's worries about a potential energy crisis and gas shortages.
“These claims are misleading. There is no need for alarm. We have made sufficient arrangements for all essentials, including gas,” he stated.
He emphasized that the nation is secure under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The country is entirely safe under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi's administration. The Congress party is spreading panic; the public should steer clear of them,” Kishan added.
In contrast, Congress leaders came to the defense of Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the Opposition was addressing a significant national issue.
Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal noted that the nation had seen Rahul Gandhi raise alarms regarding a substantial energy crisis.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) highlighted the crucial matter of energy security in our country. He made a serious claim regarding the complete compromise of our Petroleum Ministry and stated he would present evidence and inform the public," Venugopal remarked.
Congress MP Manish Tewari emphasized that the fundamental concern lies with India's energy security.
He insisted that the Union government should prioritize ensuring the safety and security of nearly 48 million Indians residing in the Gulf region and protecting the nation's energy resources.
"In this context, the Union government must transparently address the House regarding our strategic petroleum reserves," Tewari emphasized.
Trinamool Congress MP Dola Sen also raised concerns about the on-ground situation, asserting that common citizens are struggling to obtain cooking gas cylinders.
"The general public is unable to access gas, and everyone is anxious,” she remarked.
This political discourse underscores the ongoing clash between the government and the Opposition in Parliament concerning energy security and fuel availability, with both parties accusing one another of misleading the populace.
