Bidar (Karnataka), Jan 5 (NationPress) A confrontation between a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and a Congress MLC nearly escalated into violence during an official meeting concerning alleged encroachment of forest land in Karnataka's Bidar district on Monday.
The two legislators exchanged heated words, questioning each other's legitimacy in front of two state Ministers and senior district officials.
This altercation unfolded during the quarterly progress review meeting for the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) at the District Panchayat office in Bidar.
The clash involved BJP MLA Siddu Patil from the Humnabad Assembly constituency and Congress MLC Bhimrao Patil.
Officials, including Karnataka Forest Minister and Bidar District In-charge Minister Eshwar Khandre, along with police and other leaders present, struggled to manage the escalating situation as both legislators lost their composure.
After the incident, Minister Khandre convened separate discussions with both leaders in his office and postponed the KDP meeting.

"I have the right to question. What authority does an MLC have to disrupt an MLA? Despite this, he exhibited thuggish behavior and intimidated me. I was elected with the backing of 2.55 lakh voters. He insulted me and approached me aggressively. I will request the state government to take action and will also inform the Congress leadership about this misconduct," he added.
Present at the meeting were State Minister for Municipal Administration Rahim Khan, Bidar Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma, CEO Girish Bodale, Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunte, along with several district officials.
