Patna, July 28 (NationPress) A significant controversy erupted in Bihar on Monday when Sandeep Kumar, a Panchayat Secretary in the Maner block of Patna, filed an official complaint against RJD MLA Bhai Virendra. In his complaint, he accused the four-time legislator of employing threatening and inappropriate language during a phone conversation.
The complaint was registered at the SC-ST police station, citing allegations of intimidation and misconduct.
The Panchayat Secretary reported that the tone and manner in which the MLA spoke to him during the call conveyed a sense of threat.
Sandeep Kumar informed senior officials, including the Block Development Officer (BDO) and the District Magistrate, about the incident.
“The interaction from MLA Bhai Virendra was inappropriate. I felt threatened, which is why I decided to lodge a complaint,” stated Sandeep Kumar while addressing the media in Patna.
The FIR indicates that the incident occurred on July 26, when Bhai Virendra called the Panchayat Secretary concerning the issuance of a death certificate for an individual.
The MLA reportedly became agitated when the official did not greet him appropriately and allegedly failed to act promptly on the request.
An audio recording of their conversation emerged on social media, igniting public discourse.
In the recording, the MLA is believed to be heard reprimanding the Panchayat Secretary, who stated he was deeply hurt by the language used.
Bhai Virendra confirmed the call's authenticity via a Facebook post but defended his conduct.
He acknowledged using harsh words but claimed the Panchayat Secretary displayed disrespect.
“When I called him, he neither greeted me nor responded courteously. His behavior was careless. Yes, I used strong language, and I regret it, but such officers must be held accountable,” the MLA expressed.
He further asserted: “Recording and sharing a private phone conversation by a government official infringes on privacy and could lead to penalties under the IT Act and Right to Privacy provisions.”
The MLA claimed that the audio was circulated out of context to tarnish his reputation and vowed to remain “the voice of the public.”
As of now, district authorities have not released an official statement regarding the situation.
This incident has sparked political debate, especially considering the sensitive caste and conduct-related implications.
Bhai Virendra is a prominent RJD leader and MLA from the Maner constituency, known for his substantial following. The complaint arrives at a politically critical time, as Bihar approaches the upcoming Assembly elections.
