Patna, Nov 6 (NationPress) Following an attack on the convoy of Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Lakhisarai, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday instructed the Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar to take stringent action against those responsible.
In a formal statement, the CEC remarked, "No one will be permitted to take the law into their own hands. Strict action will be enforced against the miscreants. The DGP of Bihar must act immediately."
Officials reported that a group of individuals, purportedly supporters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), encircled Sinha's vehicle during his campaigning efforts.
Items such as slippers were hurled at his car, and his convoy was obstructed, accompanied by chants directed against him.
Additionally, mud was allegedly thrown at the vehicles, resulting in chaos at the scene.
However, police forces were on-site to manage the situation.
In a media interaction, Deputy Chief Minister Sinha held the RJD responsible for the unrest.
"These are RJD goons. The NDA is poised to return to power... they are blocking my access to villages. Dalits and backward classes face intimidation," the Deputy Chief Minister asserted.
He further alleged that his polling agent was chased away and obstructed from voting.
"Witness their hooliganism. They chased away my polling agent," Deputy CM Sinha expressed, declaring that he would pursue bulldozer action against the culprits and file a formal complaint with the Election Commission.
In a separate incident, a serious attack was reported in Chhapra, where the vehicle of CPI-M MLA and Manjhi candidate Satyendra Yadav was targeted.
This incident reportedly took place in the Banwar and Jaitpur regions.
