Patna, Nov 6 (NationPress) Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jayant Chaudhary expressed strong disapproval on Thursday regarding the assault on the convoy of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha in Lakhisarai. They labeled the incident as an act of "desperation" from the Opposition, particularly in light of the current Assembly elections.
Chouhan articulated his views by stating that the sentiment among the public in Bihar leans favorably towards the NDA, leading to the Opposition's sense of "frustration" over the increasing support for the ruling coalition.
In a conversation with IANS, Chouhan remarked, "The public has turned their backs on them, prompting such reactions." He continued, "Just yesterday, Rahul Baba suggested vote theft—attempting to cushion himself against an inevitable defeat. Tejashwi Yadav published an additional manifesto, clearly anticipating a loss. Today’s attack on Vijay Sinha’s convoy is a manifestation of their desperation."
Chouhan asserted that the NDA is poised for a "landslide victory," stating that the people of Bihar will not be influenced by what he termed the Opposition's "false narrative."
He accused Rahul Baba of undermining India’s democratic framework, suggesting he is influenced by external factors and conspiring against the nation.
Echoing Chouhan's sentiments, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, who campaigned in Bihar on the same day, noted that the attack signifies the Opposition's anxiety regarding the election result.
Chaudhary shared, "Polling took place on 121 seats today, and I am optimistic that the upcoming phase on November 11 will see even greater voter turnout."
He added, "The assault on Vijay Sinha clearly illustrates the Opposition's desperation. The public recognizes the need for the NDA's continued good governance."
Chaudhary highlighted that the NDA government has been dedicated to empowering women and youth in Bihar, ensuring they benefit from developmental initiatives and integrate into the growth narrative.
Earlier that day, tensions escalated in Lakhisarai when Vijay Sinha’s convoy was attacked en route to a campaign rally. Reports indicate that a group of individuals, purportedly supporters of the RJD, surrounded the Deputy CM’s vehicle and threw slippers at it.
Some individuals attempted to strike the convoy with stones.
Law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, managed to control the situation, and increased security to avert further conflict. A search operation is underway to locate those responsible for the attack.
In response to the incident, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has instructed officials to take decisive action against those involved and to guarantee safe and peaceful campaigning.
