Is the Karnataka Government Really Closing Kannada Schools?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) The BJP has expressed serious concerns regarding the Karnataka government's potential decision to shut down over 600 Kannada-medium schools across the state. The party claims that the government is facing financial insolvency.
During a press briefing in New Delhi on Wednesday, former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai remarked, "The Karnataka government has already closed 638 Kannada-medium schools. The state's financial situation has worsened, leading to claims that the government has become bankrupt. It is struggling to even pay salaries, which is why these Kannada schools are being closed. This action is anti-Kannada and detrimental to Kannada education."
"I categorically condemn this and demand the immediate reopening of these Kannada schools," stated Basavaraj Bommai.
In response to inquiries regarding the Congress party's no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, he suggested that the opposition is acting out of frustration due to their repeated electoral losses.
"The leaders of the Congress party are frustrated, which has led them to act like urban Naxals in Parliament. Their actions, such as standing on benches and attacking the Speaker, have gone beyond acceptable limits. Congress women MPs have even approached the Prime Minister's seat in an attempt to obstruct his entry into the House. Such behavior has never been witnessed in the history of Parliament," he asserted.
When questioned about whether he has any expectations that the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, who criticized the Union Budget on Wednesday, would facilitate smooth house proceedings, Bommai said it remains uncertain what the LoP's next move will be.
He remarked, "He fails to address the issues faced by the people, and creating disturbances has become his primary agenda. This pattern is likely to continue."
