New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Labeling Team Rekha Gupta as a results-driven administration, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin inaugurated 500 electric buses on Sunday, criticizing the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for its misleading advertisements and the lack of tangible development.
During the bus launch event at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, which coincided with the first anniversary of the BJP government in Delhi, Nabin remarked, "It is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform Delhi into a 'Developed Delhi' with comprehensive growth, modern infrastructure, and enhanced facilities for citizens."
“With the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this vision is becoming a reality through various developmental projects,” he added, targeting the AAP's unfulfilled promises.
"The AAP's fabrications have led to challenges for the residents of Delhi. They focused on grand displays and extensive advertisements, yet their achievements were merely on paper," stated the BJP President.
“Previous administrations made grand declarations, erected billboards, but actual outcomes were absent. However, our government has demonstrated its effectiveness by implementing substantial changes. The commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, digital transparency, and accountability in governance has been evident over the past year,” Nabin emphasized.
Chief Minister Gupta announced that with the introduction of these 500 new electric buses, Delhi now boasts the largest e-bus fleet in the nation. Additionally, the inter-state e-bus service between Delhi and Panipat was inaugurated on this landmark occasion.
She highlighted that for the first time in Delhi’s history, 500 electric buses have been added to the public transport network simultaneously.
Following this induction, the total electric bus count in Delhi has surpassed 4,000, solidifying the Capital's position as home to the largest electric bus fleet in the country, as stated by Chief Minister Gupta.
Furthermore, a new electric bus route between Delhi and Panipat was introduced today, ensuring safe, convenient, and eco-friendly travel for thousands.
She announced plans to expand the electric bus fleet to 7,500 by the end of 2026, and to add 14,000 EV buses to the DTC fleet by 2028.
This event marked the commencement of the first anniversary celebrations of the BJP government in Delhi, which was re-elected after 27 years on February 8 last year.
The Chief Minister remarked that February 8, 2025, was a pivotal day for Delhi, as the citizens delivered a clear mandate to the BJP, granting them 48 out of 70 seats. It was then that a new foundation for the city's development was established.
She noted that by granting a full majority, the people of Delhi expressed their faith in PM Modi's leadership, resulting in the formation of a stable and decisive government focused on both development and heritage protection.
After 27 years, a BJP government has taken charge in Delhi, marking the beginning of a new chapter of trust and development in the Capital.
Over the last year, all MLAs, ministers, and the entire team have prioritized public service and worked tirelessly to address long-standing issues, she stated.
“I extend my gratitude to the people of Delhi for placing their trust in the BJP government, and I appreciate Prime Minister Modi for his confidence in our administration. It is due to the people's trust that this government operates every day of the year for their benefit. The leadership of the PM is evident in a state with a female CM, female secretary, and even female e-bus drivers,” CM Rekha Gupta concluded.
She also mentioned that the Delhi government will soon unveil a comprehensive and effective EV policy to promote clean energy in transportation.
Moreover, while the electric vehicle subsidies promised by the prior administration were not disbursed, the current government has successfully ensured the payment of Rs 40 crore for this initiative. Work is ongoing on programs such as Pink Cards and Mobility Cards for women.
