New Delhi, Sep 2 (NationPress) A new political uproar emerged on Tuesday as multiple women leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vehemently criticized Opposition leaders for derogatory comments aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s deceased mother during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar.
The offensive remarks, uttered from the Opposition’s platform in Darbhanga last week, ignited widespread indignation and resulted in the arrest of one individual linked to the incident. Responding to the controversy for the first time in a virtual message at a Bihar event, PM Modi stated that his mother had “nothing to do with politics” and questioned the rationale behind the insults.
“My late mother had nothing to do with politics, so what was her fault? Why was she abused?” PM Modi inquired. “I may forgive them, but the people of Bihar will never pardon them. The voters of this state will retaliate against these leaders in due time.”
Delhi BJP chief Rekha Gupta accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav of degrading political discourse. “While PM Modi has devoted his life to serving every corner of the nation, these two individuals have tarnished the essence of politics with their actions,” she remarked.
BJP spokesperson Radhika Khera claimed that the silence from the Gandhi family — Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra — over this incident illustrates Congress’ “decline of Indian values.” She added, “Their animosity towards PM Modi has escalated to such an extent that they are dragging his late mother into malicious politics.”
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi (Bhubaneswar) asserted that voters in Bihar would deliver a “suitable response” to the Opposition. “Only Congress would stoop so low,” she commented.
West Bengal BJP leader Locket Chatterjee expressed shock that no Opposition leader, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, condemned the abusive remarks.
“They have transitioned from incessantly attacking PM Modi to targeting his mother, which is utterly reprehensible,” she said.
This controversy is poised to escalate political tensions as the Bihar elections approach, with BJP leaders determined to bring this issue to public attention.
