Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 10 (NationPress) On Friday, the Union Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, introduced the BJP’s 'Sankalp Patra (Election Manifesto)' in anticipation of the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal, set for later this month. The manifesto emphasizes zero tolerance towards infiltration, the establishment of a transparent and corruption-free recruitment system, economic advancement, and empowerment of women as its primary focus.
After unveiling the manifesto, Amit Shah declared that should the BJP secure power in West Bengal this election cycle, it would enforce a zero-tolerance approach to infiltration.
“We plan to implement the ‘detect, delete, and deport’ strategy to expel all illegal infiltrators from the state, thereby safeguarding not only West Bengal but the nation as a whole. Alongside securing the state’s international borders, we will address cattle smuggling with strict measures,” stated the Union Home Minister.
He also highlighted the need for a transparent state recruitment process that prioritizes merit, ensuring that vacant government positions are filled without the risk of corruption. The BJP aims to create permanent job opportunities rather than temporary contracts.
“Young individuals will receive ₹15,000 to aid in their preparation for competitive examinations. Additionally, those who have faced job loss due to corruption will be eligible for a five-year age relaxation,” he mentioned.
In terms of economic growth, Shah pointed out that the BJP-led administration aims to enhance West Bengal’s financial status by drawing significant investments to stimulate job creation. He also suggested potential revisions to the existing land policy that presently limits the state’s involvement in land acquisition for industrial purposes.
“Four new satellite townships will be established in strategic locations throughout the state, with precise sites to be determined later. This initiative aims to expand future opportunities. There is also a dedicated plan for the development of Haldia Port in the East Midnapore district, along with the construction of specialized deep-sea ports at Tajpur and Kulpi. Special focus will be placed on the tea and jute industries, with aspirations to position West Bengal as a leading export hub for the Blue Economy,” Shah elaborated.
Regarding the empowerment of women, the BJP’s manifesto pledges 100% free public transport for women. Furthermore, it promises the formation of a special committee of retired judges to investigate crimes against women.
“We will ensure 33% reservation for women in all government job openings. Each mandal will have dedicated women’s police stations, and every police district will feature women’s desks. Job opportunities will be available for women at all hours. Our Chief Minister will never need to caution women against going out at night,” Shah affirmed.
