Kolkata, April 14 (NationPress) If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures power in West Bengal following the two-phase assembly elections later this month, their primary focus will be on enhancing women's safety. Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized on Tuesday that women should feel free and secure to move around even after midnight.

Shah stated, “The level of crime against women during the Trinamool Congress administration has reached alarming heights. The public is aware of tragic incidents such as the R.G. Kar rape and murder case, and the assaults at both Kasba Law College in Kolkata and a medical institution in Durgapur. I declare that with BJP in power, women's safety will be our utmost concern, ensuring their ability to move freely and securely at any hour.” He made these remarks during a campaign rally in Gazole, located in the minority-heavy Malda district.

During his speech, he also touched on the recent incident involving President Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background, during her visit to the state.

Shah accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of disrespecting tribal individuals, asserting, “A tribal woman became the President of India during our tenure. She visited West Bengal to participate in a Santal festival and faced humiliation here. Today marks Ambedkar Jayanti, and I affirm that both the people of India and I will not tolerate any disrespect towards the President.”

He further stated that those associated with the Trinamool Congress, responsible for the deaths of over 300 BJP workers in West Bengal over the past 15 years, will face justice.

“I promise today: once our government is in place, every perpetrator will be identified and prosecuted,” Shah declared.

Previously, Shah mentioned that if the BJP takes charge, they will abolish the prevalent practices of 'Love Jihad' and 'multiple marriages' in the state by implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

“Some individuals can engage in four marriages simultaneously, while others must adhere to one. Is that equitable? But don’t worry; after our government is established next month in Bengal, the UCC will be put into effect. The practice of polygamy will cease, and there will be no more occurrences of 'Love Jihad' or 'Land Jihad' in the state,” he stated during a rally at Manikchak in Malda.

Additionally, Union Minister Shah delivered a stern warning to those involved in corruption cases from the last 15 years under the Trinamool Congress rule.

“Those who believe they can evade justice are mistaken. Once the results are announced and the new government is formed, every individual involved in corrupt activities will find themselves behind bars,” the Union Home Minister concluded.
