Kolkata, April 13 (NationPress) - Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Monday that the funds retrieved through the fight against corruption in West Bengal will be directed towards welfare programs if the BJP secures victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. He asserted, “In our election manifesto, we have pledged to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 to women and unemployed youth in the state. I understand that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned the source of funding for this increased allowance. My response is that the money saved from eradicating the widespread corruption prevalent during her administration will finance such welfare initiatives,” Shah remarked during a campaign event in Raniganj in the West Burdwan district.
This marked the third rally Shah held on that day, following two others in Bolpur and Khayrasole, both situated in the Birbhum district.
He also assured that the security measures for the two-phase elections on April 23 and April 29 would be robust enough to prevent any intimidation of voters by the goons affiliated with the Trinamool Congress.
“I am issuing a warning to the ruling party's goons. They ought to stay home on polling day or face severe consequences,” Shah cautioned.
In response to a recent video released by the Trinamool Congress that accused former party legislator Humayun Kabir of colluding with the BJP to split minority votes, Shah remarked that it would be misguided to view Kabir as detached from the Trinamool Congress.
“In truth, he is a close associate of Mamata Banerjee. The BJP will never align itself with someone aiming to establish a Babri Mosque in West Bengal,” the Union Home Minister emphasized.
