Guwahati, March 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday encouraged the electorate to back the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasizing the party's unwavering commitment to women's empowerment throughout the region.

In a message shared on social media platform X, Sarma highlighted that a single vote has the potential to transform families and amplify women's voices in the community.

"One informed vote can alter the conversation within every household," remarked the Chief Minister, underscoring the significance of civic engagement in the democratic framework.

In discussing the BJP's stance on women's empowerment, Sarma noted that the party's strategies and initiatives in Assam have been aligned with the mission of reinforcing 'Nari Shakti'.

"Our focus through BJP4Assam has been on empowering the women of Assam, and every step we take resonates with this conviction," he asserted in his post.

Sarma affirmed that the government remains dedicated to ensuring that women benefit from development programs and welfare initiatives in the years to come.

"This initiative will persist in the future," he added, urging voters to make thoughtful choices in the upcoming elections.

"Choose wisely, choose BJP," Sarma implored as the Assembly polls approach.

Since assuming power, the BJP-led government in Assam has introduced numerous welfare schemes aimed at women, designed to enhance financial independence and foster entrepreneurship among women statewide.

The flagship Orunodoi scheme provides direct cash assistance of Rs 1,250 per month to women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, currently aiding over 19 lakh beneficiaries.

This program ensures that financial resources reach families through women, thereby boosting their role in household decision-making and improving access to vital necessities.

Furthermore, the government has initiated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), encouraging rural women to venture into entrepreneurship by offering seed funding and institutional support, aiming to assist up to 12 lakh women.

Another program, the Lakhpati Baideo scheme, aims to empower women linked with Self Help Groups (SHGs) by providing staged financial aid—Rs 10,000 in the first year, Rs 25,000 in the second year, and Rs 50,000 in the third year—to help them create sustainable micro-enterprises and boost their income.

Political analysts observe that women voters are increasingly becoming a crucial voting demographic in Assam, prompting major political parties to prioritize policies and campaign messages centered around women's welfare and empowerment.

The BJP leadership in the state has consistently emphasized the role of women in driving social and economic advancement, with party leaders often showcasing government initiatives as part of their election outreach.
