Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 11 (NationPress) The President of the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samik Bhattacharya, humorously responded to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's claims that the primary opposition party is recruiting individuals from other states. Bhattacharya remarked that instead of bringing people from nearby regions, the BJP is actually sourcing supporters from 'Mars and Antarctica.'
Previously, Chief Minister Banerjee had accused the BJP of importing 'paid supporters' and 'voters' from states like Uttar Pradesh to sway the forthcoming Assembly elections set for April 23 and 29.
In response to her allegations, Bhattacharya stated, 'No, not Uttar Pradesh. We are bringing people from Mars and Antarctica.'
Addressing the issue of illegal immigration, the Bengal BJP leader claimed there is a 'silent demographic invasion' occurring not only in West Bengal but also in neighboring Bihar and Jharkhand.
'For a long time, we have been experiencing a silent demographic invasion in West Bengal. The entire configuration of our border districts has been altered. It’s not just the border districts or the demographics in West Bengal but also in Bihar and Jharkhand,'
he said.
Bhattacharya accused Mamata Banerjee of altering the demography in border districts of Bihar and Jharkhand as well, stating, 'This is a very unfortunate state of affairs. The internal security of our nation is being compromised.'
He further claimed that migrant workers who felt 'compelled to leave' West Bengal due to a lack of opportunities would soon return.
'According to the information I have received, 73 special trains will be arriving in West Bengal with all migrant workers who left because of the lack of job opportunities,' he asserted.
Additionally, Bhattacharya highlighted the BJP's election manifesto for the state.
'Our Sankalp Patra (election manifesto) has been crafted considering the emotions, grievances, and requirements of the people of West Bengal.'
He emphasized provisions for women, educated youths, and farmers, particularly those cultivating potatoes, stating, 'The manifesto includes commitments for women, young people, and farmers.'
Expressing confidence in the BJP's success in West Bengal, Bhattacharya declared, 'We will secure a comfortable majority in the state elections.'
'The public has already decided that they are determined to remove the Trinamool Congress from West Bengal,' he asserted.
Moreover, he claimed, 'There is nothing that can be termed as Mamata's (Banerjee) government.'
