Belagavi (Karnataka), Oct 3 (NationPress) In response to the Karnataka State Contractors' Association's letter directed at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, which accuses ministers and leaders of demanding a whopping 80 percent commission and engaging in nepotism, C.T. Ravi, a former national general secretary of the BJP and current Member of the Legislative Council, questioned on Friday, 'Weren't you embarrassed after reading the contractors' letter?'
Addressing the media in Belagavi, Ravi further probed, 'Did you consider how the public would perceive us?'
He emphasized that the letter had been addressed directly to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
'Contractors have expressed that corruption has significantly increased. Don't you feel ashamed upon reading their claims?' Ravi challenged CM Siddaramaiah.
He urged the Chief Minister to acknowledge the power given to him by the people and respond to their grievances.
Ravi criticized Siddaramaiah's assertion that he would serve as Chief Minister for the next two years, questioning, 'Is your term meant for engaging in corruption?'
On the ongoing power struggle between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar, he remarked, 'There’s no assurance that the situation will improve with a change in leadership. If one corrupt official is replaced with another, it won’t benefit the state.'
He expressed concern that the Karnataka government had lost all sense of empathy and was more preoccupied with the elections of cooperative banks than addressing the public's suffering. He lamented that while they were focused on cooperative elections, they were neglecting the significant challenges faced by the populace.
Ravi noted that crops across millions of hectares have been ruined, with many people losing homes and livestock, and some even losing their lives. He called on the government to show compassion during this critical time.
As farmers endure hardships, he stated, 'The ministers appear more concerned with proclaiming, 'I am the Chief Minister.' The identity of the Chief Minister is irrelevant. You have been entrusted with power by the people; address their hardships.'
'The damage is extensive in Belagavi, Vijayapura, Raichur, Bidar, and Kalaburagi districts. Farmers in these areas are suffering. At the very least, the district minister should demonstrate some empathy.'
'Common citizens are struggling due to rising prices. Since your administration took over, the costs of 60 items have surged. Do you want a list? The current situation will not improve by merely changing the Chief Minister. Only a change in government can bring about real improvement. Celebrations have taken precedence over addressing public distress for CM Siddaramaiah,' he claimed.
