BJP launches Seva Sankalp Abhiyan from Sept 17 to mark Modi's 25 years in public life
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The newly constituted body of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national office-bearers convened its first meeting in New Delhi on 22 August, launching preparations for the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan — a month-long nationwide outreach campaign set to run from 17 September to 17 October, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday and marking his 25 years in public life.
What the Campaign Covers
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, addressing the media after the meeting, said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is designed to connect citizens with government welfare schemes and engage youth in service and innovation. The campaign will be rolled out across the country down to the booth level, with state-level workshops to be completed by 31 August, followed by district- and block-level workshops over the subsequent five to seven days.
The workshop held on Saturday brought together all state party presidents, organisation general secretaries, and teams of seven to eight karyakartas selected from each state. Tawde noted that the BJP has been organising Seva Pakhwada every year on 17 September in honour of the Prime Minister's birth anniversary, but this year's edition is expanded into a full month given the milestone of 25 years since Modi took oath as Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001.
Honouring Anganwadi Workers
A key component of the campaign will be the recognition of Anganwadi workers across the country. BJP workers will visit more than 14 lakh Anganwadi centres to honour those serving at the grassroots level in children's nutrition and care. Matri Samvad programmes will be organised in tandem, creating a platform for dialogue with these workers.
Youth Engagement and Innovation
Under the Seva Mein Mera Yogdan initiative, citizens — particularly youth — will be encouraged to create reels documenting service activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, and tuberculosis patient identification under the national TB eradication campaign. These reels will be shared at the district and state levels to amplify participation. A National Innovation Challenge will also be organised, with competitions at the block, district, and state levels to surface locally relevant solutions to community problems.
Seva Setu Abhiyan: Bridging Schemes and Beneficiaries
Through the Seva Setu Abhiyan, the party aims to ensure no eligible citizen is excluded from flagship welfare programmes. Concerned departments will set up camps at the block level for 15 days to enrol beneficiaries into schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Tawde described this as 'an effective bridge between the government's schemes and their actual beneficiaries.'
With state-level workshops due by month-end and district-level mobilisation to follow, the BJP's organisational machinery is now in full motion ahead of the campaign's 17 September launch.
