Kochi, Jan 15 (NationPress) Boby Chemmanur, a showman, renowned entrepreneur, and philanthropist, found himself entangled in a legal controversy this week. On Wednesday, the Kerala High Court, which had granted him bail the previous day, conveyed its dissatisfaction with his actions, even cautioning that it could revoke the bail order.

Although Chemmanur secured bail on Tuesday, he chose to remain in jail, expressing solidarity with fellow inmates who are still incarcerated due to legal technicalities. This decision drew criticism from the judiciary. On Wednesday morning, the judge summoned all involved parties and condemned Chemmanur’s conduct, warning that the court would not hesitate to rescind his bail.

After the judge's admonishment, Chemmanur swiftly exited the jail, where he had spent six days. Speaking to the media, he stated that procedural issues had delayed his release. “I was informed my release order would be issued yesterday, but I only received it this morning,” he explained.

Dismissing claims of orchestrating a publicity stunt, Chemmanur remarked, “I hold the judiciary in high esteem and have never sought to undermine it. Reports suggesting I declined to sign release papers are untrue—I never received any. As a businessman, I will never ‘fool’ with the legal system.”

Chemmanur further expressed his commitment to assist inmates in need of legal support, clarifying that this was not the reason for his delayed release. “Moving forward, I will exercise greater caution in my public statements. This incident has imparted a significant lesson,” he added.

Despite the upheaval, Chemmanur asserted that his business remains strong, bolstered by the backing of investors and associates.

When court proceedings resumed, Chemmanur’s attorney conveyed his client’s regret, underscoring his respect for the court and vowing not to repeat such conduct. The court dismissed the case, stating it would not tolerate any challenges to its authority.

Chemmanur’s legal issues commenced on January 9, following a police complaint by popular Malayalam actress Honey Rose, who accused him of making disrespectful remarks about her during an incident four months prior. Her social media revelation prompted cyberattacks against her, resulting in the arrest of over 20 individuals.

Chemmanur was apprehended by the Kerala Police at his Wayanad resort on January 8 and was subsequently taken to Kochi for questioning.

Honey Rose, a celebrated actress recognized for her debut in Boyy Friennd (2005) and her breakout role in ‘Trivandrum Lodge’ (2012), hinted at the possibility of extending her complaint to Chemmanur’s associates if necessary.

Despite the allegations, Chemmanur's business empire, including Chemmanur International Group, remains resilient. Renowned for high-profile initiatives such as hosting football legend Diego Maradona in Kerala in 2012 and organizing a record-breaking marathon to promote blood donation, Chemmanur continues to expand his network of showrooms even amidst the controversy.
