Key Takeaways
Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, Feb 10 (NationPress) Located just 10 kilometers from the Burhanpur district headquarters, the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Girls’ Hostel in the village of Daryapur is becoming a remarkable example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The hostel accommodates 50 girls from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe backgrounds hailing from nearby rural regions. These girls are not only advancing their education but are also acquiring skills aimed at achieving self-reliance.
In addition to their academic pursuits, the girls are receiving training in various self-employment activities. Motivated by campaigns such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, and the call for Swadeshi, hostel superintendent Jyoti Bala Singh has implemented an innovative program that teaches the girls how to craft useful products from banana fiber.
They create an array of handmade items, including decorative pieces, bird nests, clocks, caps, mirrors, and other essential products, all utilizing banana fiber. These creations are made during their free time, and the eco-friendly initiative supports local resources while equipping the girls with practical skills for the future.
The primary aim of this initiative is to foster self-reliance in impoverished and tribal girls from an early age, empowering them to be independent in the years ahead. The girls are enthusiastic about this training, viewing it as a golden opportunity to acquire new skills alongside their studies.
In a conversation with IANS regarding this initiative, hostel superintendent Jyoti Bala Chauhan expressed her appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that his policies and schemes have significantly inspired the empowerment of women and the promotion of self-reliance.
She further highlighted to IANS how the residents of this hostel are not only pursuing education but also learning valuable skills that will enable them to become independent in the future.
Students at the hostel, including Jyoti Dawar, Soni More, and Dhudhari Chauhan, expressed gratitude to the government and their educators for providing skill-based training alongside their studies. Hostellers noted that acquiring these skills has significantly boosted their confidence, and they all wholeheartedly thanked Prime Minister Modi for facilitating their journey toward self-reliance.
