CBSE Class XII re-evaluation results 2025 released in phases, 87% declared
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday, 21 June began releasing the outcomes of Class XII verification and re-evaluation applications in a phased manner, with more than 87% of total applications declared on the first day. The Board urged students to disregard rumours and rely solely on official communications for authentic updates.
Scale of Applications and Phased Release
The CBSE received more than 70,000 applications for post-result grievance redressal following the Class XII results. Of these, more than 63,000 were for re-evaluation of answer sheets, while over 7,000 were for verification of marks. In a post on X, the Board confirmed: 'The CBSE has commenced the release of Class XII verification of issues observed and re-evaluation outcomes. The outcomes are being released in a phased manner, with over 87 per cent of the total applications received being declared today.'
The remaining outcomes are expected to be made available in subsequent phases, with the Board stating that the entire process is expected to be completed soon. Students can check their application status at results.digilocker.gov.in.
Board's Assurance on Fairness and Transparency
Amid circulating rumours and unverified social media posts, the CBSE on Sunday assured students that every application had been processed through a 'robust, transparent and carefully monitored system to ensure fairness and accuracy.' The Board explicitly advised students not to trust unofficial sources and to await only official CBSE communications.
CBSE offices, the Board added, would remain accessible to provide guidance and assistance to students navigating the re-evaluation process.
Cyber Attack During Application Window
The CBSE's portal reportedly faced malicious denial-of-service (DoS) attacks — a form of cyber assault designed to overload and crash systems — while the application window for verification and re-evaluation remained open from 2 June to 7 June. The Board has not specified whether the attacks affected any applications.
Coempt Eduteck Responds to OSM Controversy
Coempt Eduteck, the Hyderabad-based edtech firm at the centre of the CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) controversy, issued a clarification on 18 June, stating that the scanners it deployed were standard, industry-grade models used across the sector. The company denied allegations that tender conditions were altered to accommodate substandard hardware.
'The scanners used by Coempt are standard, industry-grade models utilised across the sector. We upgrade our hardware year on year, and the scanning resolution is perfect,' the company stated.
Regarding blurred images of student answer sheets — which triggered a national controversy after being highlighted by a student — Coempt said cases were being systematically reviewed in coordination with evaluation authorities. On the separate incident in which a student reportedly received another candidate's answer sheet, the firm clarified that the matter stemmed from the physical scanning process rather than a software error, with preliminary findings pointing to manual oversight.
Coempt currently serves more than 35 universities and institutions across India and processes nearly 2 crore answer booklets annually through digitisation, on-screen marking, AI-assisted evaluation, and question-paper management services. With phased outcomes now underway, students await the resolution of one of the most scrutinised post-result cycles in recent CBSE history.
