'I am Lethal Because I Am Wounded': Raghav Chadha Addresses Allegations
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 4 (NationPress) Raghav Chadha, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Rajya Sabha, vehemently denied the "false and coordinated allegations" made against him by fellow party members on Saturday, emphasizing that these claims were designed to silence his voice in Parliament.
In a bold statement shared via video on X, Chadha asserted that a "scripted campaign" was underway against him, featuring identical accusations being disseminated repeatedly.
"Since yesterday, a coordinated attack has been launched against me. The language and accusations being used are too similar to be coincidental," he declared.
The AAP representative explained that he had initially opted for silence but felt the need to respond after observing that lies, when told repeatedly, might be taken as truth. "I felt it was time to speak up," he remarked.
Chadha contended that these allegations served as a pretext to inhibit his ability to speak in Parliament. "AAP leaders have indicated that they will prevent me from voicing my opinions in Parliament due to these accusations. I intend to address these allegations one by one," he stated.
In addressing the first allegation, he categorically denied claims that he remained seated during Opposition walkouts, describing it as "completely false" and challenged critics to provide evidence.
"There are CCTV cameras in Parliament. They should review the footage; it will clarify everything," he emphasized.
Regarding the second allegation, which related to his supposed refusal to endorse an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Chadha dismissed it as unfounded. "I was never formally or informally requested by any AAP leader to sign such a motion," he clarified.
He highlighted that several other AAP MPs also did not sign the notice. "With 10 MPs from AAP in the Rajya Sabha, six or seven of them also chose not to sign. So why am I the one being targeted?" he questioned, noting that only 50 signatures were needed for the motion to proceed.
Responding to the third allegation—that he was acting out of fear—Chadha firmly rejected the claim. "I am not in Parliament to cause disruption, damage equipment, or use foul language. My purpose is to highlight the issues that matter to the public," he asserted.
Highlighting his record in Parliament, Chadha mentioned a variety of issues he had raised, including GST, income tax, water concerns in Punjab, and air pollution in Delhi. He pointed out discussions regarding education, public healthcare, Indian Railways, and menstrual health—subjects that often receive insufficient attention.
"I am in Parliament to make a difference, not to disrupt. The Parliament operates on taxpayers’ funding, and I am there to voice their concerns," he stated.
Chadha concluded by asserting that the truth would ultimately emerge. "All these falsehoods will be uncovered, and every question will be answered. 'Kyunki main ghayal hoon, isliye ghatak hoon' (I am wounded, that's why I am lethal)," he said.
