New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) AAP MP Raghav Chadha publicly addressed his recent removal from the position of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, stating he feels “silenced, not defeated”. The party has appointed Ashok Mittal as his replacement.

On the social media platform X, Chadha conveyed his message to the ‘aam aadmi’, declaring, “I may be silenced, but I am not defeated. My message to the common man is: Khamosh Karwaya Gaya Hun, Hara Nahi Hun.”

In a video address, Chadha emphasized that he continuously raises critical issues affecting the general populace—topics that often go unnoticed. He questioned the rationale behind his silencing, asking, “Is advocating for the public a crime?”

“Every time I am given a platform in Parliament, I discuss matters relevant to the community. I address issues that are typically ignored. Is it wrong to speak up for the public? Have I made a mistake?” he further inquired.

Chadha accused the party of instructing the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to limit his opportunities to speak. “The AAP has stated that Raghav Chadha should not be allowed to voice his opinions. Why should anyone prevent me from speaking in Parliament?” he questioned.

He highlighted various issues he has championed, including the struggles of delivery workers, escalating food prices at airports, food adulteration, toll fees, the middle class's tax burden, and telecommunications recharge practices.

“I have brought these concerns to light, and the public has benefitted from my advocacy. What harm does AAP incur from this? Why should I be silenced?” he asked.

Chadha expressed his gratitude for the public's unwavering support, stating, “I appreciate the immense love you have shown me. Thank you for your encouragement—remember, I am one of you and here for you.”

He concluded his message on a poetic note: “Do not confuse my silence with defeat. Like a river, I will surge as a flood when the moment is right. Jai Hind.”

On Thursday, the AAP designated Ashok Mittal, a lawmaker from Punjab, as the new deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, effectively replacing Chadha from this role.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party sent a formal communication to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to execute this transition, appointing Ashok Mittal as the new Deputy Leader in the Upper House.

Currently, Sanjay Singh serves as the party leader in the Rajya Sabha and chairs the AAP parliamentary group.

Reports indicate that the party has requested the Secretariat to refrain from allocating speaking time to the outgoing deputy leader. Raghav Chadha has been vocal in raising matters of public significance during recent months.

Despite the current tension between AAP and Raghav Chadha, both sides have largely refrained from discussing their strained relationship openly. Speculation is rife regarding the MP potentially shifting political allegiances ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections in Punjab.

At present, the party holds ten seats in the Upper House, predominantly representing Punjab, where it is in power.
