Saurabh Bharadwaj Criticizes Raghav Chadha Over Punjab Issues and Walkout Fear
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) The rift within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has deepened as Saurabh Bharadwaj, the party's Delhi President, responded sharply to MP Raghav Chadha's recent comments after his replacement by MP Ashok Mittal as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. Bharadwaj emphasized that Chadha was appointed to the upper house to address Punjab's pressing issues and accused him of being afraid to walk out alongside the Opposition.
"It’s disappointing that Raghav Chadha reacted so defensively, almost launching an attack against the party," Bharadwaj remarked.
He insisted that the situation was not as significant as it seemed but did express that the party had "concerns on multiple fronts."
Bharadwaj pointed out that Chadha was "not elected to the Lok Sabha by the public."
"He was delegated to the Rajya Sabha by the party to advocate for the issues concerning the farmers of Punjab. It was his duty to raise these critical issues in the House," he stated.
Bharadwaj listed various concerns that Chadha should have addressed, mentioning, "Billions of rupees owed to farmers by the Central government remain unpaid. Funds allocated under MNREGA are also being withheld, along with the dues owed to the Punjab government. These are the matters he should have brought forward in the Rajya Sabha."
He further criticized Chadha for being "afraid" to endorse the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.
"Countless voters are being removed across various states due to SIR (Special Intensive Revision). Fake voters are being created, and elections are being manipulated. In this context, he was hesitant to support the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner. He did not sign it," Bharadwaj added.
He also claimed that Chadha was intimidated to join the Opposition leaders during walkouts.
"Whenever the Opposition walks out over a national concern, he appears frightened and remains seated (in the House), unable to join them. If I review his social media activity, aside from mentioning PM Modi, he has not even referred to 'BJP.' Politics cannot thrive in such fear," he asserted.
Bharadwaj underscored the importance of being courageous in politics.
Additionally, he encouraged Chadha to focus on politics driven by real issues.
Bharadwaj also accused the BJP of engaging in trivial matters instead of addressing substantial problems.
"The core issue is that we are currently facing a shortage of LPG gas due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy. Tariffs have been enacted against our country due to PM Modi's approach. We had to agree to a ceasefire with Pakistan. These are the essential matters that need to be discussed," he concluded.
