Uttarakhand CM Dhami Conducts Surprise Inspection of CM Helpline Complaint, Critiques Officials
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Dehradun, April 17 (NationPress) In a decisive move to uphold accountability, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an unexpected inspection on Friday to personally assess a public grievance lodged through the CM Helpline. His visit was prompted by concerns regarding negligence in the execution of public works.
Rather than depending on the traditional paperwork to address complaints, the Chief Minister traveled to the Jakhan locality on Rajpur Road in Dehradun to witness the situation firsthand. The complaint was raised by local resident Vivek Madan, who highlighted the destruction of a footpath during underground electrical cabling efforts.
The complaint asserted that the footpath in Jakhan, which had been properly constructed, was excavated by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the underground cable installation. Unfortunately, after the work was completed, the surface was inadequately restored, resulting in an uneven ground and the sinking of tiles, making the footpath unusable for pedestrians.
On that day, the Chief Minister had initially planned to review complaints via the CM Helpline but opted instead to directly evaluate the site before his meeting. Accompanied by the complainant, he inspected the affected area and assessed the situation.
In a proactive approach, Dhami utilized his mobile device to place a video call to relevant officials, showcasing the current state of the damaged footpath. He emphasized the necessity for improved coordination among departments and indicated that such oversights should be prevented in the future.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that despite the underground cabling project, exposed electrical wires were still evident in various locations, posing potential hazards to public safety. He remarked that inadequate planning not only inconveniences citizens but also leads to wastage of public funds due to redundant work.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the negligence observed, Dhami directed officials to guarantee the timely and coordinated completion of such projects. He underscored the importance of addressing public grievances promptly and effectively.
In anticipation of further actions, the Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to identify similar complaints throughout the state and tackle them through a dedicated statewide initiative. He affirmed his commitment to conducting such on-site inspections during future district visits to enhance accountability and service delivery.
During his visit, CM Dhami also engaged with local shopkeepers and residents, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed swiftly.
