Agartala, April 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, declared on Monday that a growing number of citizens are aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) due to its focus on development, while he criticized opposition parties in light of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
Speaking at an election rally in Dasda Bazar, North Tripura, where he endorsed BJP candidate Shailendra Nath, Saha emphasized the party's motto: “nation first, then party, and finally the individual.” He contrasted this with the Tipra Motha Party and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), suggesting these parties prioritize personal or party interests over the nation.
“In this TTAADC election, we aim to reduce the Tipra Motha Party to zero. There is no policy difference between the All India Trinamool Congress and Tipra Motha,” he stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted the BJP's rise since its inception in 1980, with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee playing a pivotal role, noting that the party has expanded from just two Members of Parliament to leading the country for three consecutive terms under PM Modi.
Referring to the significance of the 2026 TTAADC elections, Saha mentioned that the BJP plans to contest 28 seats in the council, calling it a historic initiative. “For years, the TTAADC was dominated by politics without substantial development. The communists, who once held significant electoral power, have now lost the people's trust,” he claimed, accusing the Left of corruption during its prolonged governance in the state.

In addressing local issues, the Chief Minister noted that he has raised concerns regarding displaced Bengalis in Kanchanpur with Home Minister Shah, expressing optimism for a lasting solution soon.
He drew similarities between the political situations in West Bengal and Tripura, alleging that instances of political violence have surged since the BJP announced its candidates for the 28 seats. “Reports of attacks on party workers and properties have emerged from around 40 locations, reminiscent of West Bengal’s situation,” he asserted.
The rally witnessed participation from local leaders, including party MLA Jadab Lal Nath, North District BJP President Kajal Kumar Das, and numerous other party members.
The TTAADC, which comprises 30 members (28 elected and 2 nominated by the state government), is scheduled for elections on April 12.
