Is a Cold Wave Sweeping Across Bihar? IMD Issues 7-Day Alert!
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Dec 16 (NationPress) The cold wave has further deepened its impact across numerous districts in Bihar, leading the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a seven-day alert for the state.
The IMD has indicated that both daytime and nighttime temperatures are set to decline in the upcoming days. Post December 22, certain areas of Bihar may face severe cold wave conditions, potentially disrupting normal life.
The Patna Meteorological Centre stated that the current weather pattern is likely to continue, with cold conditions particularly felt during the morning and evening. While daytime temperatures may not be extremely low, the overall chill is expected to intensify. Residents are advised to remain cautious, especially in the early morning hours, and to plan any outdoor activities accordingly.
According to the forecast, moderate to dense fog is anticipated during nighttime and morning hours today and tomorrow in various districts, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Rohtas, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Jamui, Banka, and Bhagalpur. The effects of fog and cold are expected to be more severe in South Bihar, where these conditions may linger longer.
The Meteorological Department has also alerted about dense fog alongside bitter cold in many districts, including Patna, during mornings and evenings. Although sunshine may make brief appearances during the day, it is unlikely to offer much relief.
The IMD notes that after December 22, several districts may experience 'cold day' conditions, where maximum temperatures remain significantly below normal. Minimum temperatures are projected to range between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius in districts such as Saran, Bhagalpur, Buxar, Gaya, East Champaran, and Sitamarhi.
Special precautions have been advised for elderly individuals, children, and other vulnerable populations. While dry weather is expected to dominate most parts of the state, winds reaching up to 30 km per hour are forecasted over the next two days in districts, including Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, and Aurangabad.
No significant temperature changes are expected in the next three days. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures may range from 8 to 14 degrees Celsius.
