Patna, Nov 29 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department has forecasted a significant intensification of cold conditions in Bihar due to an active Western Disturbance.
Both urban and rural regions are witnessing a drastic decrease in temperatures post-sunset.
The IMD has cautioned that the active western disturbance will exacerbate the cold in multiple districts, leading to severe cold and cold wave-like situations.
As per the IMD, the effects of the western disturbance will commence from December 1, especially in East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, and Siwan, where a significant drop in temperatures is anticipated.
An overall escalation of cold conditions is expected statewide beginning in early December.
Weather variations have already been noted in Patna, Purnea, Gopalganj, West Champaran, and Sitamarhi, where moderate to heavy fog was reported on Saturday morning, impairing visibility.
On Friday, Purnea recorded a visibility low of 500 meters.
The IMD has declared this as the first major Western Disturbance of the season, which is likely to trigger abrupt weather shifts across many parts of Bihar.
This may lead to cold days and cold wave conditions. An alert has been issued to the Disaster Management Department.
On Saturday morning, the maximum temperature across various districts was between 26 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures ranged from 10 degrees Celsius to 12 degrees Celsius in southeastern and northeastern districts, and 12 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius elsewhere.
The cold has notably intensified in the past 24 hours.
While winds impacted several areas, including West Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar, no rainfall was recorded across the state.
Forbesganj (Araria) logged the highest maximum temperature at 30.2 degrees Celsius, while Aurangabad remained the coldest at 11.1 degrees Celsius.
Overall, the cold has become more pronounced across many districts in the state over the last day.
Winds affected numerous areas, including West Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar, but no rain was documented in any district.
