Patna, Dec 9 (NationPress) Bihar is currently experiencing a severe cold wave as frigid winds sweep through the region. Meteorologists indicate that intricate atmospheric conditions are channeling cold air toward Bihar, resulting in a significant drop in temperatures and impacting daily activities.

The Bihar Meteorological Centre has reported harsh cold conditions affecting various districts, including Patna, Gaya, Saharsa, and Katihar.

For several consecutive days, the minimum temperature has been recorded below 10 degrees Celsius, with the last two nights witnessing a drop to around 5 degrees Celsius, which is considerably lower than average for this season.

Although the weather is forecasted to remain dry throughout the state, light fog and morning mist may present challenges for travelers.

The Met Department has advised individuals to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours.

Cold winds gusting at 15–20 km/h are contributing to the chill, particularly in the mornings and evenings.

Dense fog is anticipated over the next two to three days, further reducing visibility across various districts.

No significant temperature changes are expected in the immediate future.

In Patna, the maximum temperature reached 24 degrees Celsius while the minimum stood at 13 degrees Celsius, both figures being below normal for Tuesday.

As temperatures continue to plummet, residents are resorting to bonfires, warm clothing, and indoor heating.

The authorities have recommended that people limit outdoor activities in the early morning unless absolutely necessary, particularly for children and the elderly.

Adding to the cold wave, westerly winds have intensified the chill, causing a rapid decline in temperatures.

The Meteorological Department has expressed concerns that dense fog may linger in districts such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Patna, Gaya, and Kaimur for the next two days, leading to significant visibility issues.

However, during the day, bright sunshine provides some warmth and comfort amidst the ongoing cold spell.

Weather experts suggest that while there will be no major fluctuations in maximum or minimum temperatures for the next four to five days, a further drop may occur after December 15.

Until then, minor variations are expected. Authorities and health professionals emphasize that vigilance and precautions are vital to protect against the harsh impacts of the winter season.
