Congress Blames Government's Foreign Policy for Pakistan's Renewed US Acceptance
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 29 (NationPress) The Congress party criticized the government's foreign policy on Sunday, claiming it has allowed the once-isolated Pakistan to gain new acceptance and respect from US President Donald Trump amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh stated, "Historically, Pakistan faced strict measures from Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden. Following its terror activities in Mumbai in November 2008, it was isolated, but it has now regained a level of acceptance."
Ramesh argued that Prime Minister Modi has failed to achieve any diplomatic advantage with the US, suggesting that Pakistan's current standing, as described by Dr. S. Jaishankar as a 'dalal' (broker), highlights the significant shortcomings of the Modi government's foreign policy and diplomatic strategies, especially after India's military successes in Operation Sindoor.
The Congress spokesperson further remarked, "It is clear that President Trump, who is perceived as Modi's ally, has played a substantial role in enhancing Pakistan's respectability."
This criticism is not the first instance of the Congress party calling out PM Modi and his administration, particularly in light of recent events in West Asia and their repercussions on India.
The BJP has consistently denied the Congress's allegations. Recently, BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav defended Modi, stating, "The Prime Minister is fulfilling his duties while maintaining the nation's dignity; meanwhile, the Congress is attempting to mislead the public."
Yadav also supported EAM S. Jaishankar's comments regarding Pakistan's role in mediating between the US and Iran.
The Chief Minister emphasized, "Congress leaders claim that different conversations could have led to better outcomes. India is asserting its role on its own terms. I commend EAM Jaishankar for labeling Pakistan a dalal."
During an all-party meeting on March 25, EAM Jaishankar noted that "India cannot be a 'broker' (Dalal) nation."
