Guwahati, Sep 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi unleashed a fierce critique of the Congress party on Sunday, asserting that the esteemed political organization has compromised national interests by aligning with Pakistan.
During a public gathering in Darrang, PM Modi condemned Congress for various issues, including infiltration, Operation Sindoor, and the apparent lack of progress in the state under previous Congress administrations.
He accused the party of prioritizing Pakistan's interests over India's security.
Discussing Operation Sindoor, PM Modi claimed that Congress leaders had undermined the fight against terrorism by propagating Pakistan's narratives and diminishing the morale of the armed forces.
“When Congress held power, terrorism thrived. Even as Pakistan lost numerous prominent terror leaders, the Congress chose to align with the Pakistani Army instead of supporting the Indian Army,” the Prime Minister stated.
He further asserted that the opposition party has been influenced by ideologies antagonistic to India, placing political gain above the nation's sovereignty.
“Instead of supporting our soldiers, Congress amplifies the sentiments of those who harbor terrorists. The fabrications propagated by Pakistan have become Congress's agenda. The public must stay vigilant,” he cautioned.
PM Modi also criticized Congress for engaging in vote bank politics and safeguarding infiltrators and anti-national elements, claiming such actions pose a direct threat to the country's stability and security.
The Prime Minister made a pointed remark about the lingering wounds inflicted on the people of Assam due to Jawaharlal Nehru's policies during the 1962 Chinese invasion, stating they remain “unhealed”.
He asserted that Assam and the Northeast were left unprotected as Chinese forces advanced, highlighting what he described as the “betrayal” of that era's Congress leadership.
“The citizens of Assam still recall the scars of that neglect. The current Congress continues this same approach - shielding infiltrators and anti-national groups instead of standing resolutely with our Army and nation,” he remarked.
At another rally in the Golaghat district, PM Modi addressed the issue of infiltration in Assam.
Launching multiple projects in Golaghat, he noted, “Congress has governed Assam for many decades, yet they failed to foster development in the state. The Congress party provided refuge to infiltrators, resulting in demographic changes in Assam.”
In contrast, he praised the BJP government in Assam for addressing these challenges, stating, “The current administration is committed to making Assam free from infiltrators. The BJP is implementing measures to protect the rights of the indigenous people of Assam by granting land patta to Scheduled Tribes (ST).”
