New Delhi, July 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing critique of the Congress party during his address in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, accusing it of siding with Pakistan’s agenda and diminishing the morale of India’s armed forces.
During the ongoing discussion regarding Operation Sindoor, PM Modi stated, “Congress’s trust is being manipulated by Pakistan’s influence,” and condemned statements from certain Congress leaders who purportedly labeled the operation as a sham.
The Prime Minister further asserted that Congress has historically displayed negativity towards the armed forces, highlighting that the party has never officially recognized or celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas.
He questioned the party’s position during the Doklam standoff and implied that some Congress figures were receiving briefings from foreign entities.
“If you compare their statements with those from Pakistan, you will notice identical punctuation,” he remarked.
PM Modi criticized Congress for demanding evidence that the Pahalgam terrorists were of Pakistani origin, labeling it a strategy that reflects Pakistan’s own propaganda.
“Even with abundant evidence, they insist on proof. What would they argue if there was none?” he questioned.
PM Modi defended the military operation launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, revealing that Pakistan had fired nearly 1,000 missiles during the conflict.
“Had those missiles struck, the devastation would have been unimaginable. Fortunately, our air defense system intercepted them mid-air. Every citizen should take pride,” he noted, emphasizing India’s advancing technological prowess in warfare.
He accused Congress of disseminating misinformation about the Adampur airbase, stating, “It was as though they were waiting for my failure. I visited Adampur the following day and debunked their falsehoods.”
He praised India’s air defense system for neutralizing Pakistani drones and missiles “like straws,” drawing comparisons with the Balakot airstrikes, where Congress had similarly requested photographic proof.
“Pakistan made similar demands - show us the photos, count the casualties,” PM Modi recalled.
Reflecting on the capture and return of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman in 2019, PM Modi mentioned that even then, some voices in India doubted the government’s capability to secure his return.
“They murmured that Modi was trapped. Yet, Abhinandan returned with dignity and honor. Even after Pahalgam, when a BSF soldier was captured, they thought they had another opportunity. But he too returned with pride.”
The Prime Minister’s comments come amidst a politically charged atmosphere in Parliament, with Operation Sindoor becoming a point of contention between the government and the Opposition.
The debate is ongoing, with further contributions anticipated from senior leaders across party lines.
