PM Modi Critiques Congress for Prioritizing Power Over Indigenous Rights in Assam
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a pointed critique of the Congress party on Monday, alleging that they engage in "appeasement politics" and facilitate infiltration for electoral advantages. He emphasized that the BJP-led government is dedicated to safeguarding the land and identity of Assam’s indigenous populations.
During a large public rally in Barpeta, Assam, PM Modi accused Congress of being willing to go to any length for power. He claimed that their previous policies have fostered infiltration, resulting in significant encroachments on land belonging to local communities.
“The Congress has supported infiltration, and now, infiltrators have seized extensive areas of land that rightfully belong to the indigenous people of Assam. This is a direct consequence of their vote bank politics,” the Prime Minister stated.
In stark contrast, PM Modi highlighted that the BJP government at both the national and state levels is working “with unwavering resolve” to reclaim such territories and restore the rights of the local populace.
“Our administration is implementing stringent measures against illegal encroachments and infiltrators. We are steadfast in our commitment to protect Assam’s land, culture, and identity,” he asserted.
He further accused the Congress of opposing every initiative taken by the government to combat illegal infiltration.
“Whenever actions are taken against infiltrators, Congress leaders emerge to support them. They openly align themselves with those who have unlawfully occupied land,” PM Modi explained.
In a formidable political warning, the Prime Minister suggested that if Congress regains power, they might even attempt to legislate measures that would characterize infiltrators as “victims” to secure their vote bank.
“This reflects their mindset. To them, power supersedes national interests and the rights of indigenous populations,” he remarked.
PM Modi urged the citizens of Assam to stay alert and not be misled by what he termed as the opposition's “misleading narratives.”
“The people of Assam must recognize these intentions. Your vote is not merely for a government; it is a vote for the preservation of your land, your identity, and your future,” he asserted.
In his appeal for support, the Prime Minister encouraged voters to back the BJP to ensure ongoing efforts to shield Assam and its residents from the challenges posed by infiltration.
