Mumbai, Oct 8 (NationPress) In light of the Bihar election schedule announcement and the ongoing conflict within the Mahagathbandhan regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam stated on Wednesday that the Congress party is primarily focused on its own survival and is working to undermine its allies across various states by treating them as mere political supports.

In an interview with IANS, Sanjay Nirupam remarked, "The Congress party is solely concentrated on ensuring its own political longevity. It leverages its allies only as temporary aids, ultimately aiming to weaken their positions. In Bihar, the Congress has sidelined Lalu Yadav’s party and has refrained from naming Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial aspirant. Although a government may be formed under the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, recent polls indicate that the public remains supportive of Nitish Kumar’s leadership over the years, providing the NDA with a distinct pro-incumbency edge."

In response to the Supreme Court's order for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to present details of excluded voters during the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar by October 9, Nirupam stated:

"During the voter list revision, fraudulent entries have been identified and eliminated. Individuals who have moved away, those registered at multiple locations, or foreign nationals have had their names removed. It is reported that approximately 40–50 lakh names, or around 700,000, have been eliminated. A list of new voters, those who have turned 18 or were previously unregistered, should also be released. I congratulate these new voters for engaging in this grand democratic festival. I also commend the double-engine government of Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar for their commitment to electoral transparency," he conveyed to IANS.

On Prime Minister Modi’s two-day visit to Mumbai on October 8 and 9, Nirupam commented:

"Mumbai is beautifully adorned to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The inauguration of Maharashtra’s second international airport and the first greenfield private airport in Navi Mumbai signifies a historic achievement. While many infrastructure projects have emerged in India, this is the first instance where both groundbreaking and inauguration of an airport occur simultaneously. This showcases the Prime Minister’s proactive approach and constant supervision. It represents a new benchmark in the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra," he stated to IANS.

He also acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s 24 years in governmental service, marking the start of his 25th year since being sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001.

"Prime Minister Modi has been unceasingly serving the populace for 25 years—initially as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 12 years, and currently as the Prime Minister of India. Such a prolonged, dedicated, and uninterrupted career in public service is uncommon among politicians. His profound connection with the populace, dedication to social advancement, and robust work ethic contribute to his lasting popularity. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Modi on this momentous occasion," Nirupam concluded.

Point of View

The current political dynamics suggest a critical need for parties to foster solidarity rather than prioritize individual ambitions. The forthcoming Bihar elections will serve as a litmus test for the Congress party's strategy and its implications for coalition politics in India.
