Patna, Feb 9 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to concentrate on the declining economy instead of worrying about the potential threat to his Rashtriya Janata Dal from the Congress party.
"He should be more concerned about the economy and the entire state rather than voicing concerns regarding our party's future," Tejashwi Yadav stated to IANS, responding to PM Modi’s remarks about the Congress's 'predatory politics' being detrimental to its allies.
In his address following the BJP’s success in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Congress was attempting to exploit caste issues to undermine the RJD's voter base in Bihar.
PM Modi accused the Congress of a tendency to shorten the lifespans of its allies, asserting that the party frequently appropriates the agendas and slogans of its coalition partners in various states.
On Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav dismissed PM Modi's caution regarding the Congress's intentions, stating: "Neither the Congress nor the RJD is sinking; it is the economy that is in trouble. The double engine government is treating Bihar unfairly."
He further criticized PM Modi for his comments on the Congress and its allies, emphasizing: "He should focus on development rather than just a single state or political party."
If the Prime Minister genuinely cares about Bihar, he should grant the state special category status, Yadav asserted.
The former Deputy Chief Minister also refuted claims that the BJP's significant victory in the Delhi Assembly elections would boost the NDA's momentum in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
"Bihar is not comparable to any other state. One must consider and comprehend many factors first," he remarked.
This was not the first instance of PM Modi criticizing the Congress for its alleged predatory strategies against its allies. He previously stated, "Whoever aligns with the Congress is destined for doom."
During his speech in Delhi, he also took aim at the Congress’s attempts to infiltrate the vote banks of the DMK in Tamil Nadu and the Samajwadi Party and BSP in UP.
Earlier, he had raised similar concerns during his response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha.
PM Modi pointed to the Congress's poor electoral performance, describing the party as a sinking ship that brings down its allies with it.
"This is why Congress's allies have begun to abandon it after facing defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections," he remarked.
