New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) The Congress party has labeled Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to submit his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections as a betrayal of the Bihar populace, claiming that the NDA garnered votes by presenting him as the Chief Minister.

In a conversation with IANS, Congress representative Udit Raj remarked that Nitish Kumar’s choice signifies a betrayal of those who placed their trust in him.

“Nitish Kumar is poised to betray the public. He rose to leadership through support from the Economically Backward Class (EBC) community, yet over the past two decades, he has offered them little,” Raj stated.

He further accused Kumar of failing to implement significant measures for the betterment of the community during his administration.

“No universities or colleges have been established for them, and no special initiatives were undertaken. His leadership relied primarily on emotional rhetoric and political maneuvering, which incited division. Now, with a former Chief Minister transitioning to a Rajya Sabha member, what will he contribute there? He will face no scrutiny. The community he once represented has gained nothing from him, and he could have made a difference during his term,” he added.

Another Congress figure, Surendra Rajput, also condemned this development, urging the ruling coalition to honor the people’s mandate.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party and NDA leaders must not deceive the public. They should address the issues for which they campaigned for votes. They presented Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister to the electorate,” Rajput said.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar took to the social media platform X, addressing the citizens of Bihar, stating that for over two decades, they have continuously entrusted him, allowing him to serve the state with commitment.

He acknowledged the public's faith as a driving force behind Bihar’s advancement and increased recognition at the national level, expressing appreciation for their ongoing support.

Nitish Kumar conveyed that since the start of his political career, he has aspired to be a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature and Parliament.

In this vein, he proclaimed his intention to contest the Rajya Sabha elections.

Assuring the people of his unwavering dedication, Nitish Kumar stated that his bond with the residents of Bihar remains strong, and his determination to foster a developed Bihar is steadfast.

He mentioned that he would offer full support and guidance to the new government that emerges.

This announcement has sparked a flurry of political activity throughout the state.

As conversations regarding his Rajya Sabha candidacy intensified, reports of dissent began to circulate among the Janata Dal (United) ranks.

In reaction to the escalating political climate, security measures were significantly enhanced around the Chief Minister’s residence.

A substantial presence of police personnel was deployed at both main entrances, and patrols were increased in the vicinity.

Security forces were placed on high alert, with the area resembling a fortified zone.

Since morning, JD(U) supporters gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence, chanting slogans of “Nitish Kumar Zindabad.”

The supporters expressed their endorsement of Nitish Kumar’s leadership, with many asserting that the public mandate was granted to him as Chief Minister.
