Bhopal, Oct 21 (NationPress) Renowned Congress figure Kamal Nath asserted on Tuesday that Madhya Pradesh is on the brink of economic distress due to the widespread corruption within the administration led by Mohan Yadav. The Congress leader further accused the Chief Minister of failing to persuade the Central Government to secure the state's share of funds for essential initiatives aimed at aiding the underprivileged.
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath noted that the state was expected to receive Rs 44,000 crore from the central authorities this financial year; however, it has only been allocated Rs 8,000 crore, which is nearly 18 percent of the expected total thus far.
The Madhya Pradesh government has struggled to manage its own revenue and secure necessary funding from both state and central sources, leading to a decline in the state's financial health. Consequently, the administration is left with no choice but to seek additional loans from banks, according to Kamal Nath.
Discussing the Jal Jeevan Mission, he claimed that the state was scheduled to receive over Rs 8,500 crore from the Central Government, but due to the ongoing corruption, the release of funds has been halted.
Kamal Nath expressed that it is regrettable that the state's reputation has suffered significantly because of corruption, to the extent that even the BJP-led Central Government has lost trust in the Madhya Pradesh administration.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the allocated funds for programs such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and MGNREGA, which cater to the poor and disadvantaged, have been drastically reduced by the Centre.
He emphasized the necessity for the state government to address financial mismanagement and control the rampant corruption within the governance structure; otherwise, the situation is likely to deteriorate further.
The Congress party has previously criticized the state government regarding the OBC reservation matter.
