New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) The Indian commercial vehicle (CV) market exhibited a mix of results in March, as Tata Motors reported a 3% decrease in sales, whereas Ashok Leyland and Eicher Motors experienced positive growth. Tata Motors recorded total CV sales of 41,122 units in March 2025, down from 42,262 units during the same month last year.

In contrast, Ashok Leyland achieved a 6% increase in sales, while Eicher Motors saw a remarkable 7.6% rise, propelled by robust domestic and export activities.

For Q4 FY25, Tata Motors reported a 5% decline in overall sales, totaling 252,642 units, down from 265,090 units in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

According to the company’s stock exchange filing on Tuesday, total sales for FY25 were also below last year’s figures.

Analyzing the performance by category, Tata Motors' commercial vehicle segment displayed varied results.

Sales of heavy commercial vehicles (HCV) remained stable, showing a modest 1% increase, while small commercial vehicles (SCV) and pickups faced a significant 17% drop.

Conversely, light and intermediate commercial vehicles (ILMCV) recorded a 6% growth in March 2025 compared to the previous year.

In the domestic sector, Tata Motors reported total sales of 90,500 units in March 2025, reflecting little change from the 90,822 units sold in March 2024.

Additionally, Tata Motors' passenger vehicle (PV) sales fell by 6% year-on-year in Q4 FY25, dropping to 146,999 units from 155,000 units in the preceding year.

In stark contrast, Ashok Leyland registered a 6% increase in total CV sales, achieving 24,060 units in March 2025, though full-year sales for FY25 remained flat at 195,097 units.

Eicher Motors' commercial vehicle sector reflected strong growth, with a 7.6% rise in March 2025 sales.

Domestic sales surged by 6.3%, while exports skyrocketed by 44.3% compared to the previous year.
