Bengaluru, Aug 14 (NationPress) Kannada actor Darshan, implicated in the fan murder case, was apprehended at his wife's apartment in Bengaluru on Thursday after the Supreme Court mandated the revocation of his bail and ordered his immediate custody.

Darshan, who had driven into the city, met his wife and family at the Prestige South Ridge Apartments in the Hosakerehalli area of Bengaluru.

Wearing a white mask, the police took Darshan into their custody and transported him to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station. He is scheduled for a medical evaluation before appearing in court.

Upon discovering that Darshan was not in the city, law enforcement established three teams to locate him. Reports indicated that he tried to evade the media and police by changing vehicles and entered the apartment through a rear entrance. A large crowd of fans gathered outside his residence, chanting slogans in his favor.

In light of the Supreme Court's ruling, police sought to ascertain the actor's location, while his attorneys contacted the investigating officer, requesting that he be permitted to surrender to the trial court.

According to police reports, Darshan crossed the Suvarnavathi toll in the Chamarajanagar district at 6:11 a.m. on Thursday, having traveled to Tamil Nadu to attend a horse fair. It was also disclosed that he had been in Mysuru on Wednesday night before heading to Madikeri.

Earlier today, Pavithra Gowda, the primary suspect and partner of Darshan, was arrested at her home in RR Nagar, Bengaluru. A police team from RR Nagar, led by an inspector and accompanied by female officers, executed the arrest. Police sources indicated she would be subjected to a medical examination before appearing in court.

In the morning, Pavithra Gowda shared a post on Instagram proclaiming: "The truth holds greater power than anything else in this world. No matter how long it takes, justice will always find its way and be served." Sources revealed she became emotional upon hearing the verdict.

It was noted that the Supreme Court issued its ruling while she was engaged in special prayers at the Rajarajeshwari temple.

Bengaluru police have assembled separate teams to detain all seven suspects by the day's end. Officers have been instructed to present the suspects to the court either in person or via video conference by the end of the day.

DCP West S. Girish confirmed that five suspects have been arrested thus far: Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, Laxman, Pradosh, and Nagaraj (a.k.a. Naga).

Efforts are still underway to locate the other two suspects - Jagadish (alias Jagga) and Anukumar (alias Anu), both from Chitradurga district. Police sources confirmed that teams have already reached Chitradurga.

The Supreme Court, in revoking Darshan's bail in connection with the fan murder case, instructed authorities to take him into custody right away. It similarly revoked bail for Pavithra Gowda and five other suspects, who will also be taken into custody immediately following the ruling.

A bench consisting of Justices R. Mahadevan and J.B. Pardiwala rendered the ruling, asserting that the High Court's decision in this case was erroneous. The court further mandated that the examination of witnesses proceed expeditiously, emphasizing that no individual, irrespective of their status, is above the law.

Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were apprehended on June 11, 2024, on charges of kidnapping and brutally murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.

Pavithra Gowda had previously implored the Supreme Court not to revoke her bail, arguing that she is a single parent responsible for her daughter, who is in class 10, and also cares for her elderly parents.

Her statement claimed she was a victim of sexual harassment by Renukaswamy. On the day of the incident, she maintained there was no communication with any of the accused. She contended that the prosecution had failed to substantiate the allegations of kidnapping and murder against her.

She further asserted that she has no criminal history and was not involved in the murder of Renukaswamy.
