Bengaluru, Nov 19 (NationPress) The prosecution has filed a petition under CrPC 264 with the trial court in Bengaluru, seeking to mark evidence that remains undisputed in the high-profile fan murder case involving Kannada superstar Darshan, his associate Pavithra Gowda, and others. This move aims to expedite the trial proceedings.
The defense counsel for Darshan is set to present arguments on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the judicial process, after which witness examinations are scheduled to commence.
Once the evidence is marked, the phase of witness examination will kick off in this fan murder case.
The police are prepared to disclose details about all witnesses and document them for the court. Among the more than 200 pieces of evidence, approximately 10 are undisputed. Should Darshan's counsel agree to this evidence marking, the need for examining them, along with associated documents, may be eliminated during the trial.
If the documents receive acceptance and are marked, further corroborative evidence will not be necessary. The trial is being conducted at the CCH-57 court in Bengaluru. The prosecution has requested that the court acknowledge the documentary evidence that is undisputed. The court will render its decision on this petition.
As both Darshan and the other accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges levied by the police, the prosecution must present a list of witnesses for examination. Once the trial timetable is established, summons will be sent to the witnesses.
The brutal murder of Darshan's fan, Renukaswamy, occurred on June 8, 2024, in Bengaluru. Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped from his hometown of Chitradurga, transported to Bengaluru, confined in a shed, and ultimately tortured to death. After the crime, his body was discarded into a canal, discovered by security personnel at a private apartment complex who witnessed the body being dragged by dogs.
The 3,991-page chargesheet compiled by Bengaluru Police in relation to the case involving superstar Darshan and Pavithra Gowda has disclosed that Renukaswamy had reportedly solicited Pavithra Gowda for a covert live-in relationship.
According to police sources, the investigation revealed that Darshan inflicted multiple kicks to Renukaswamy’s chest, resulting in broken ribs. Following this, Darshan allegedly threw him into a truck, causing a severe head injury. Furthermore, after showing a private photograph sent to Pavithra Gowda, Darshan reportedly kicked Renukaswamy in a sensitive area, rendering him unconscious.
The assault by Darshan was fatal and led to Renukaswamy's death. The police have referenced Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports in their chargesheet, as stated by police sources.
The authorities also acquired images of Darshan appearing distressed post-murder and conversing with other accused individuals at a luxury hotel in Mysuru before his arrest in this case. They have compiled 65 photographs linking to the murder of Renukaswamy.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were apprehended on June 11, facing charges of kidnapping and the brutal murder of Renukaswamy from Chitradurga. Following the surfacing of images depicting 'royal treatment' for him at Bengaluru Central Prison, Darshan was transferred to Ballari prison. He is currently facing three FIRs related to the incident.
The Supreme Court has revoked the bail of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and others, with Darshan presently incarcerated at Bengaluru Central Prison.
