Bengaluru, Aug 14 (NationPress) The main suspect in the fan murder case, Pavithra Gowda, who is also the partner of actor Darshan, was apprehended in Bengaluru on Thursday following the Supreme Court's revocation of her bail.
She was taken into custody at her home in RR Nagar.
The police in Bengaluru have established seven teams to capture all seven suspects by the end of the day. Officers have been directed to present the suspects before the court, either physically or through video conferencing, before the day's conclusion.
A police team from RR Nagar, led by an inspector and supported by female officers, executed the arrest. Sources indicate that Pavithra Gowda will undergo a medical evaluation prior to her appearance in the trial court.
In the meantime, authorities are searching for actor Darshan, the second suspect, despite his lawyers requesting permission for him to surrender to the trial court.
According to police reports, Darshan passed the Suvarnavathi toll in Chamarajanagar district at 6:11 a.m. on Thursday, en route to Tamil Nadu for a horse fair. It was also revealed that he had been in Mysuru on Wednesday night before heading to Madikeri.
Earlier that morning, Pavithra Gowda shared a poignant message on Instagram, stating: "The truth holds greater power than anything else in this world. No matter how long it takes, justice will always find its way and be served.” Sources noted that she became emotional upon hearing the court's decision.
The Supreme Court issued its ruling while she was engaged in special prayers at the Rajarajeshwari temple.
Police have confirmed the arrest of suspect Pradosh, while efforts continue to locate other suspects - Jagadish alias Jagga, Anukumar alias Anu, Nagaraju alias Naga, and Laxman.
The Supreme Court has also revoked Darshan's bail in connection with the fan murder case, directing authorities to take him into custody immediately. This decision similarly applies to Pavithra Gowda and five other accused individuals who will also be detained.
A bench consisting of Justices R. Mahadevan and J.B. Pardiwala declared the High Court's previous ruling flawed. The court emphasized that the trial process should be expedited, underscoring that no individual, regardless of their position, is above the law.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were arrested on June 11, 2024, on allegations of kidnapping and brutally murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
Pavithra Gowda had previously appealed to the Supreme Court not to revoke her bail, stating that she is a single parent responsible for her daughter, a class 10 student, and her elderly parents.
She claimed to have been a victim of sexual harassment by Renukaswamy and maintained that she had no communication with any of the accused on the day of the incident. She argued that the prosecution had failed to substantiate the charges of kidnapping and murder against her.
Gowda stressed that she has no criminal past and was not involved in Renukaswamy's murder.
