A press conference was organized by the film's team in Bengaluru to share this news.
Despite his legal troubles, Darshan managed to complete filming and dubbing for the movie while he was temporarily out on bail.
During the media briefing, Director Prakash Veer remarked, "The title 'The Devil' perfectly fits the narrative. We didn't tailor our story to match the title; instead, we selected the title because it aligns with the plot. Darshan's professionalism was unwavering. There was no deviation in his performance, even during shooting post his release from jail."
He further mentioned that a press conference was initially planned for when Darshan would be free.
"We waited for a considerable time, but unfortunately, Darshan remains in custody. Thus, the 'The Devil' team decided to conduct the press conference without him," Prakash Veer explained.
"His presence empowers me immensely. I will genuinely miss that support. Our discussions about this film began in 2018. Darshan encouraged me to take my time in crafting the screenplay before we started filming. Then, the Covid pandemic hit, and I faced personal loss with my father's passing," he added.
After wrapping up the successful film 'Kaatera', we chose to move forward with 'The Devil'. Today, we stand here announcing its release on December 11. Darshan's absence is a significant void that cannot be filled, and we feel this loss deeply. He has always been a pillar of strength for me, and his family has supported us throughout. His fans are also rallying behind the film, and for that, I am grateful," Prakash Veer concluded.
The cast includes Sharmiela Mandre, Rachana Rai, and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles.
The film's song 'Idre Nemdiyag Irbek' has gone viral across social media platforms.
