Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Dec 10 (NationPress) Imprisoned Kannada film actor Darshan has reached out to his fans, expressing confidence that time will clarify all uncertainties regarding his situation. He also encouraged them to show their support for his upcoming film Devil, which is scheduled for release this Friday.
His heartfelt message was shared via social media by his wife Vijayalakshmi, as he remains incarcerated in connection with a fan's murder case.
In the note that was circulated online, Darshan stated, “This message comes straight from my heart, delivered to you all by Viji (my wife). She has been updating me consistently about each of you—your love, your concern, your unwavering support, and your relentless promotions throughout the state. Even from afar, I sense your presence with me at every moment.”
Darshan urged his dedicated followers not to be swayed by the multitude of voices, rumors, or negativity that may surround them. He emphasized that they are his strength and family, and that he stands strong because of the faith they have placed in him.
“At this juncture in my life, my greatest power is you. All I wish is for you to worry less and direct that love and energy towards what is truly important—our film Devil,” the Kannada star expressed.
“I am who I am thanks to all of you. I know without a doubt that you will embrace 'Devil' with the same immense affection you have always shown me. Even in my absence, I hope you will respond to every question, every doubt, and every voice, not with words but with the resounding success of this film. That will be our declaration,” he added.
He continued, “Hearing about your promotional efforts, your dedication, and your unity fills me with both pride and emotion. I eagerly look forward to the day I can meet all of you again, look you in the eyes, and thank you for standing as a fortress around me. Just as you believe in me, I have faith in each of you. Remember, time has its own way of revealing the truth. Time will answer all. Until then, hold your heads high, your hearts strong, and your love unwavering.”
In response to allegations of misconduct within the prison, Vijayalakshmi asserted online that claims regarding Darshan’s behavior are unfounded.
“Darshan has not harmed anyone in jail. I visited the prison and spoke with the officials. All claims against him are intentionally fabricated,” she asserted.
“Rumors about Darshan have caused me distress. The truth may remain muted for a time, but it will never yield. Lies may echo loudly,” she stated.
Nevertheless, sources from Bengaluru Central Prison mentioned that Darshan is facing accusations from fellow inmates who are also co-accused in the murder case. Officials indicated that his demeanor changed once certain privileges were revoked. According to prison staff, Darshan has displayed rudeness toward some inmates and has allegedly kicked co-accused individuals while they were asleep.
Two of his associates, Jagadish and Anukumar, reportedly requested transfers to Chitradurga district jail, stating they could no longer endure the harassment.
Darshan, along with partner Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was apprehended on June 11, 2024, for the alleged kidnapping and murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. Authorities reported that the victim had sent obscene and abusive messages to Pavithra, expressing anger over her connection with the actor.
After images suggesting preferential treatment inside the Bengaluru jail surfaced, Darshan was moved to Ballari Central Prison. The police subsequently filed a 3,991-page charge sheet in court on September 4, 2024, along with a supplementary charge sheet.
Darshan was granted bail on October 30, 2024, after spending 131 days in custody. However, the Supreme Court annulled the bail following an appeal by the Karnataka Police, resulting in Darshan, Pavithra, and others being taken back into custody.
