Bengaluru, Dec 31 (NationPress) The spouse of incarcerated Kannada actor Darshan, Vijayalaxmi, has expressed concerns about the Bengaluru Police's lack of response to her complaint against various social media accounts that have been posting abusive comments directed at her.
In contrast, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has dismissed her claims, asserting that a thorough investigation is currently in progress.
Following her meeting with Seemanth Kumar Singh on Wednesday, Vijayalaxmi took to social media to voice her frustrations.
"My complaint has been entirely overlooked. I thought the law applied equally to everyone, but this situation has led me to doubt that conviction. It has been quite shocking for me," she expressed.
"Within a day, action was taken on another woman's complaint. In my case, however, there has been no response, and I feel disregarded," she continued.
Notably, Kannada actress and former Congress MP Ramya, also known as Divya Spandana, had previously filed a complaint against Darshan's fans for issuing rape threats after she supported the family of a victim in a fan murder case.
In that instance, police acted promptly and made arrests.
On social media, Vijayalaxmi remarked, "I have always held the belief that the system and the law are equal for everyone in our nation. However, this experience has led me to question that belief. Despite follow-ups by my lawyers, there has been no movement. Today, I had to personally remind them that my complaint still awaits attention."
"I sincerely hope this delay is not due to any external pressures. Justice should not be contingent upon who is involved. Those who support such behavior should consider redirecting their energy toward more constructive endeavors instead of blindly endorsing such actions," she added.
"I am still waiting. I will not let this matter fade away," she cautioned.
In response, Seemanth Kumar stated, "In my perspective, Vijayalaxmi's allegations are unfounded. The police serve everyone, not just a specific group. We operate strictly under the law. In this instance, our personnel registered the case promptly. It began at the CCB level and is now being investigated at the DCP level."
"Leads can come in quickly, or there may be delays. There is no intention of negligence. If any officers are found negligent, we will address it accordingly," he emphasized.
Last week, Vijayalaxmi lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police against multiple social media accounts for their abusive comments aimed at her.
She provided evidence against 15 Instagram IDs and over 150 offensive comments. After filing the complaint, Vijayalaxmi departed without addressing the media.
Additionally, she submitted a complaint at the Bengaluru Police Commissioner's office, presenting screenshots of the hateful comments and detailing the respective accounts, urging authorities to take appropriate action. The inspector in the cybercrime division accepted her complaint and assured her of necessary measures.
Subsequently, Vijayalaxmi shared an Instagram story about the situation, posting screenshots of the abusive remarks and the accounts responsible for them.
